According to Gas Infrastructure Europe data, gas storage in the EU is emptying fast due to the cold weather, which has led to increased consumption. This has also been exacerbated by the fall in gas imports by sea. Previous episodes of rapid storage depletion were recorded in 2021, when gas supplies from Russia were cut off, and during the energy crisis in the summer of 2022.
