Edmond Niculușcă, one of the administrators of the venue "La Mița Biciclista", sparked a wave of negative reactions on social media after posting a clip in which he mocks the customers of Patiseria Amzei, a well-known pastry shop in Piața Amzei, frequented by students and pupils.
In the clip, Niculușcă expresses his belief that the products from his restaurant are superior, while claiming that the Patiserie in Amzei uses margarine instead of butter and "cheese spread" for their pastries.
"We all know this type of person, he is super convinced that the best pastry shop in the world is at Nea Mihai, at the corner of the block. It seems that his whole life he has only tasted margarine and cheese spread. And I don't judge him. We all grew up with margarine. This guy is not alone in the world, he is a species," said Niculușcă while filming in front of the Patiserie in Amzei.
The reactions on social media were largely ironic, questioning Niculușcă's credibility.
"Je suis ‘Nea Mihai din Amzei! I firmly condemn the petty and ultra-elitist attack of the Count of Mița Biciclista on the beloved pastry shop, with reasonable prices. C’est pas Versailles ici, boss," wrote an internet user.
"Impeccable, dear sir. A small and humble amendment: I propose the variant 'șaptesprezece'. Not that, but when you say 'șaptisprezece', you suddenly and irreparably sound elitist," reacted artist Dan Teodorescu, the lead singer of the band Taxi.
