The prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office next to the Court of Sector 6 have detained four people, including a man who claimed to be an Orthodox priest, accused of fraud in the field of funeral services. They are suspected of defrauding elderly people by offering grave and crypt arrangement services at inflated prices, using false documents. The criminal activity took place over the course of a year, with the total damage estimated at over 850,000 lei. The police conducted eight searches, including at Bellu Cemetery, where they only found false documents. The defendants, authorized by the Cemetery Administration, approached elderly individuals, proposing unjustified services and requesting substantial loans, without the intention of repaying them. They were brought to court with proposals for preventive arrest or house arrest.
