The judges from Prahova issued preventive arrest warrants for four men involved in an environmental scandal, in which two companies are suspected of having collected hundreds of tons of liquid waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous, which they illegally discharged into the Dâmbu river, traversing the municipality of Ploiești. The four arrested include a company manager and three accomplices, while the tanker drivers, who transported the waste, were considered witnesses.
The case prosecutor decided to initiate criminal proceedings, and the court approved the proposal for preventive arrest for 30 days. It is suspected that the network operated by them transported daily, from counties such as Mureș, Brașov, and Ilfov, between 10 and 20 tons of waste, which reached the wastewater treatment station in Corlătești, thus polluting the waters of the Dâmbu river. The drivers stated that they were not aware of the nature of the waste being transported.
