Adrian Chesnoiu, former Minister of Agriculture and PSD deputy, was sentenced by the Supreme Court to 4 years in prison for abuse of office and incitement to fraud in hiring competitions in the ministry. The decision, which is not final, can be contested.

Chesnoiu resigned from his position as minister in June 2022, after the DNA requested the lifting of his immunity. The court also admitted the civil action of the Ministry of Agriculture, obliging him to pay 50,995 lei for salary expenses during the period he held the position.

Other convictions in this case include suspended sentences for his collaborators, who were involved in obtaining undue benefits through unauthorized access to information.

According to the DNA, Chesnoiu facilitated access for preferred candidates to the subjects of the competitions, thus influencing their results.
