On Tuesday night, a vegetation fire broke out in the National Park Munții Măcinului, in the commune of Greci, spreading due to the wind towards the peak of Țuțuiatu. The high temperatures of around 30 degrees Celsius contributed to the spread of the fire, which has already destroyed 80 hectares of forest. Tourist trails have been closed to protect visitors and unique plant and animal species are at risk. Firefighters are battling the blaze and a helicopter has been dispatched to help put out the flames. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
