A fire affected the altar of the cathedral in Dorohoi, with firefighters intervening for over two hours to extinguish the flames.

On Thursday evening, the altar of the 'Assumption of the Virgin Mary' Cathedral in Dorohoi was engulfed in flames, and a parishioner alerted the authorities around 7 PM. The firefighters from Dorohoi intervened with three fire trucks and an SMURD ambulance, managing to extinguish the fire after more than two hours; however, the complete elimination of the fire lasted until after midnight.

The altar table, books, and religious objects were saved. The cause of the fire is still unclear, with suspicions that it may have been caused by a candle left burning or a short circuit. The spokesperson for ISU Botoșani, Dorina Lupu, mentioned that the firefighters acted quickly to prevent the flames from spreading to the entire place of worship.
