According to the new amendments to Law no. 61/1991, Romanians who organize noisy parties in yards or other open spaces must be aware of the severe penalties for disturbing public peace. Fines can reach up to 12,000 lei, and these apply both in urban and rural areas, thus eliminating the previous limit.

The Europol Union has highlighted these changes, emphasizing that organizing parties with loud music near residences constitutes an offense. Fines for such actions range between 4,000 and 6,000 lei, and in the case of repeating the offense within 72 hours, they increase significantly. Authorities can also impose community service. Thus, the myth that "you can do whatever you want in your yard" has been debunked, as penalties can be applied regardless of the time and place of the party.
