A violent altercation between parents broke out in the stands during the women’s handball match between LPS Banatul Timișoara and CSC Millenium Giarmata, played on Sunday, October 4, in the National Junior III Championship. The match, which featured 13- and 14-year-old players, ended with a 28–18 victory for the visiting team, but the result was overshadowed by incidents among spectators.
According to footage that went viral on social media, a verbal dispute that began in the stands quickly escalated. Several adults shoved one another, and two people began hitting each other near the railing. The handball players’ screams can be heard from the court as they watched the violent scenes. There were 86 spectators at the match, and the tensions reportedly began over dissatisfaction with refereeing decisions.
The match was tense on the court as well. Millenium Giarmata led 13–8 at halftime and won by a 10-goal margin. LPS Banatul coach Attila Horvath was sent off.
Coach Ana Beldiman condemned the adults’ behavior, emphasizing that youth handball should represent respect and fair play. The clubs have a previous incident on record: after a match in October 2024, LPS Banatul was sanctioned to play two matches without spectators because of their improper conduct.
