A man presented himself as an SRI employee and recruited former soldiers for false missions, obtaining material benefits. DIICOT is investigating the case.

A man fraudulently presented himself as an employee of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), leading a group that recruited former military personnel and weapon enthusiasts to carry out false missions. He self-titled himself 'captain' of SRI, claiming he was tasked with organizing a structure for gathering information. The recruits were subjected to operational tests and received fake IDs and equipment similar to that used by authorities.

Between April and July 2025, the group carried out missions in various counties, including tracking individuals and collecting evidence, interacting with the police and other structures, legitimizing themselves as SRI employees. DIICOT has initiated searches in seven locations and is investigating crimes such as usurpation of official qualities and forgery in official writings. The six recruited individuals have the status of suspects in this case.
