Romania is facing a severe heat wave, code red in the capital and five counties, and code yellow for thunderstorms in the west of the country.

The heatwave is concentrated in eastern Romania, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, and the capital and five counties remain under code red. In the west, the code yellow for gale-force winds has led to fire brigades intervening in 27 localities, where gusts have caused damage. Fires and accidents were reported, including a lightning fire in Caras-Severin. Authorities stress the importance of protective measures for employees in hot weather.
