The interim Minister of Environment, Diana Buzoianu, declared on Monday that the estimates regarding the operation of Unit 2 at Cernavodă have been negatively revised due to extreme conditions on the Danube. The water level remains extremely low, and new obstacles have appeared along the water's path.
The minister explained that, after the sinking of four barges and the displacement of a rock, the water level initially rose by eight centimeters, but later currents and sediments complicated the management of the situation.
Buzoianu emphasized that dredging works are underway to remove the obstacles, but each intervention requires recalculating the situation.
Although the forecast is now gloomier than it was two days ago, the minister mentioned that every day gained through the works is essential for maintaining the operation of Unit 2.
