The Ministry of Environment, through Minister Diana Buzoianu, will introduce a law criminalizing the feeding of bears, placing video cameras on the Transfăgărășan to monitor this activity. Fines for feeding bears will vary between 5,000 and 8,000 lei. It will also simplify the procedure for shooting bears entering populated areas, as they cannot be reshot. The recent census showed that Romania has between 10,000 and 12,770 bears, three times more than the optimal number.
