The Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, stated that authorities need to act urgently regarding energy supply chains, emphasizing that there is no more time to wait for an ideal scenario. During the discussions at the Economist Romania Government Roundtable 2026, Ivan highlighted that the current reality is different from five years ago, and states must adapt quickly.
He mentioned that Romania, due to its geographical proximity to Russia, is exposed to energy shortages and that it is essential for authorities to make clear decisions and to flexibilize supply chains. Ivan emphasized that, in the current context, the same decision-making pattern cannot be applied to all countries, considering the significant differences between European states. He concluded that adaptability will determine who will win the battle with the present and will become a leader in the future.
