In a press conference, the Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, stated that the decrease in electricity prices is the main priority for Romania. Comparing current prices with those from last year, Ivan mentioned that, due to measures taken together with ANRE, there are already offers below 1 leu. He encouraged Romanians to use the price comparator to find cheaper suppliers. He also spoke about a production capacity of 2880 MW that will come into operation in 2026, contributing to price reduction.

Regarding the gas price capping project, Ivan explained that it was withdrawn from debate due to an employee's overzealousness. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced a new approach, in which the gas price will be managed, not capped, to protect citizens from inflation. Bolojan emphasized that, by 2027, Romania will have additional gas resources from the Black Sea, facilitating market liberalization. During the transition period, prices will be regulated across the entire supply chain to ensure stability.
