Emil Gânj, a 37-year-old man from Mureș, has been sent to trial for qualified murder, destruction, desecration of corpses, and other crimes, after he killed his 23-year-old partner. The incident took place on July 8, 2025, when Gânj, armed with an axe, broke into the victim's home, destroying the door and windows, and struck her multiple times in the head, causing her death. He subsequently set the body and the house on fire, risking the spread of the fire to neighboring properties.
Gânj, who had a history of violence and had previously been convicted of murder, is wanted after evading prosecution. The police have offered a reward of 5,000 euros for information that could lead to his capture. The case has been sent to the Mureș Tribunal for resolution.
