On Thursday afternoon, the authorities in Călărași evacuated two apartment blocks in the municipality after residents reported a strong smell of gas. The incident occurred on Policlinicii Street, and the smell was coming from an apartment where no one was present. To prevent any incident, the gas supply to the entire building was cut off. Firefighters and teams from the gas distribution company intervened around 1:00 PM.

At the suspected apartment, no one answered the door or the phone, and the gas operator's crew decided to stop the gas supply in that section. Firefighters used a fire truck and a CBRN vehicle for safety measurements. In total, over 30 people were evacuated, including 20 adults and 12 children, to ensure the safety of the citizens. Representatives of ISU Călărași mentioned that they entered the building to ventilate the apartment and eliminate any danger.
