Education Minister Daniel David has said he understands students' dissatisfaction with the changes to bursaries and that if he were a student, he would protest too. Although he announced a reduction in the scholarship fund for 2024, he proposes that it should be 10% higher than in 2023 for undergraduates and almost three times higher for students. David emphasized that the scholarship system needs to be scaled back and that social grants will remain at 2024 levels. He acknowledged that a minister has to make difficult decisions, even if they are not popular.
