In the commune of Dumbrava, Prahova county, local councillors and town hall employees are obliged to wear a hijab to meetings, according to a measure adopted by the PNL majority. A PSD councillor who did not respect the rule was sanctioned and lost his allowance. Although the county prefect appreciated the cultural intention, he recommended the withdrawal of the measure, deeming it illegal and abusive because it is not based on an objective institutional need.
