In an interview with Digi24, Minister of Investment and European Projects Dragoș Pîslaru explained that the VAT increase was inevitable because the consumption tax reacts quickly to fiscal adjustments. He stressed that this was a temporary measure, designed to generate short-term effects, and that it was never meant to be a definitive solution. Pîslaru added that immediate measures on consumption taxes are essential in any fiscal adjustment process.
