Dragoș Anastasiu explained that Romania had ten days to avoid a serious economic crisis, comparing the situation to a car driving into a wall. He emphasized that although the measures adopted, such as the VAT and excise tax hikes, had caused discomfort, the alternative would have been even greater suffering in the long run. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that inequities in the pension system and boards would be addressed, but there were not enough resources or time to remedy them immediately. The government has taken responsibility for the package, while the AUR has tabled a no-confidence motion.
