The U.S. Department of Justice recently published a series of documents from the case file of Jeffrey Epstein, accused of human trafficking and pedophilia, which mention connections to Romania. The documents indicate that people from Romania were involved in Epstein's network, bringing girls for illegal parties on his island. Among the mentioned individuals are Romanian professors, such as Ioana-Carmen Popescu, Dr. Iulian Rusu, Ștefan Traușan-Matuș and Corina Tănită, the latter having connections with universities in Craiova and Bucharest, as well as Princeton.

Corina Tănită is associated with payments of 30,000 euros from Epstein, including a sum of 10,000 euros intended for a girl from Romania, however, these emails do not constitute clear evidence of involvement in the prostitution network. Other mentions include a Romanian painter, Ion Nicola, who worked for Epstein, and a painter who coordinated his flight based on his work. Additionally, Epstein mentioned a former model from Romania, seeking her a job in London. The documents do not prove direct collaborations between Epstein and the Romanian professors, but only suggest possible academic contacts. This information is part of a larger publication, which includes over 3 million documents related to the Epstein case.
