Doctors in Buzău are giving up on shifts due to pressures and criticism

The President of the Buzău College of Physicians, Dragoș Porumb, stated that doctors from SJU Buzău are affected by pressures and harsh criticism on social media, which culminated in attacks against doctor Ștefania Szabo before her death. This situation has generated an outcry among medical staff, who are considering giving up their shifts due to insulting comments and overwork. Dr. Porumb emphasized that the payment for shifts has not been updated, remaining at the level of 2017-2018, which discourages doctors.

He also mentioned the issue of overcrowding in emergency units, where only a small portion of patients are real emergencies, while the rest could be treated on an outpatient basis. Dragoș Porumb, a former medical director, resigned due to the excessive demands of the position, and is now focused on protecting doctors from unfounded attacks.
