This figure was considered an "unpleasant surprise" by the chief prosecutor of the DNA, Marius Voineag, who expected a much larger number of such reports. Although the DNA does not directly investigate tax evasion, seven cases of large-scale tax evasion have been opened, with damages between 18 and 96 million lei.
