Prosecutors from the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) are conducting 30 searches in Bucharest and in ten counties, in a case concerning suspicions of tax evasion committed by commercial companies engaged in the collection and recycling of metal waste.
The suspected acts are believed to have taken place between 2023 and 2025, and the estimated damage to the state budget is approximately 15 million lei. The searches are taking place in the counties of Galați, Bacău, Giurgiu, Călărași, Vrancea, Dâmbovița, Olt, Dolj, Constanța, Ilfov, and in the municipality of Bucharest, at the homes of individuals and at the offices of the companies involved. The action is supported by several structures of the DNA and the Romanian Gendarmerie.
