A Russian citizen was expelled from Romania after being declared a danger to national security.

Dmitri Frolov, a Russian with experience in the nuclear field established in Slatina, was expelled from Romania by the authorities, being considered a risk to national security. The judges at the Bucharest Court of Appeal established that there are substantial indications that Frolov may have been involved in hostile activities, including connections with Russian institutions and knowledge about the manufacturing of explosives. Although he had modest income, Frolov frequently traveled in Europe and showed a particular interest in the American base Ramstein in Germany.

Prosecutors presented evidence that he may have used intelligence techniques and had connections with Russian secret services. Frolov denied the accusations, claiming that he has no ties to Russia and that the materials found on him were from his study period. The authorities decided to expel him for 10 years, considering that his presence in Romania posed a real risk. Frolov was escorted by police to the airport and left the country.
