DIICOT prosecutors carried out dozens of searches in Bihor on Tuesday, targeting the network led by Viorel Pașca, accused of human trafficking and organized crime.
Investigators discovered that Pașca, the leader of the Dumbrava Association, had housed hundreds of vulnerable individuals without authorization, keeping them in a state of dependency and servitude. The victims, brought in by authorities, did not receive adequate care, and the group obtained millions of lei from donations and social assistance.
DIICOT highlighted that the damage amounts to 13 million lei, and the victims did not have access to minimum living conditions. During the searches, medical teams were involved to provide assistance to the victims.
This action underscores the need to protect the physical and mental integrity of vulnerable individuals.
