A 36-year-old sailor has disappeared on the Danube, and rescue crews are facing difficult weather conditions in their search.

A 36-year-old sailor, who was on a barge on the Danube, was reported missing on Wednesday morning in the area of Islaz, Teleorman County. The disappearance was reported around 08:09 by his colleagues on the barge, located at km 606 on the river.

ISU Teleorman announced that the search and rescue mission is complicated due to unfavorable weather, with dense fog and severe frost. The intervention teams include a crew from the Turnu Măgurele Detachment with a rescue boat, Border Police with a vessel, an ambulance, and divers from ISU Teleorman and ISU Giurgiu, who are mobilizing to find the sailor.
