A Black Hawk helicopter of the General Aviation Inspectorate is carrying out a search mission in the Black Sea on Saturday to find the three sailors missing from the KHORYV commercial vessel, attacked on Friday. So far, nine crew members have been rescued, one has died, and three are still missing.
At the request of the Maritime Coordination Center, the helicopter with the call sign 275 took off from Constanța and was sent to the maritime area where the sailors fell into the water. The General Aviation Inspectorate states that the operation is under way and aims to locate and rescue the missing persons.
The incident occurred on Friday, after the vessel, flying the flag of the Comoros Islands, was allegedly targeted in a drone attack. The ship suffered major damage and capsized, with an imminent risk of sinking.
According to the Coast Guard, the vessel was outside Romania's territorial waters. The rescue operation continues in difficult maritime conditions, while the authorities are working to recover the three crew members.
