The Argeș wildfires have destroyed tens of thousands of square meters of land and several households. Police have opened an investigation to determine the causes.

On Sunday, Argeș county was affected by vegetation fires, especially in Lunca Corbului commune, where the flames destroyed 13,000 square meters of vegetation, 31,000 square meters of stubble, four vehicles and hundreds of fruit trees. The Emergency Situations Inspectorate mobilized firefighters from several sub-units to extinguish the fire. The police have opened a criminal case for culpable destruction and the authorities stress the importance of following fire prevention rules. Failure to do so can result in severe penalties.
