This morning, a fire broke out in an apartment located on the eighth floor of a building in Baia Mare, causing panic among the residents. A passerby noticed the thick smoke and called 112, mentioning that they saw a child at the apartment window, which prompted the rapid intervention of the firefighters. Luca Libotean from ISU Maramureș confirmed that the people on the affected floor and those above were evacuated. The owner was not in the apartment, and no one required transport to the hospital. Unfortunately, rescuers found a cat in the apartment, but they were unable to save it. According to initial investigations, a friend of the owner may have left a lit cigarette on a mattress. Neighbors mentioned that they had problems with the tenant, who allegedly threatened to set their house on fire. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
