On Sunday, a large fire broke out in a building of the University of Oradea, severely affecting a workshop and an engineering laboratory.

The Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Bihor reported that the fire was most likely caused by an electrical device left under tension. The military firefighters from Oradea responded promptly, managing to extinguish the violent flames and prevent their spread to other laboratories and floors of the building. At the scene, 17 firefighters with three fire engines were mobilized, who worked to locate and eliminate the hotspots. The fire completely destroyed the property in the workshop and laboratory, including a car, a motorcycle, computers, and teaching materials. After extinguishing the fire, the intervention teams continued to check the building for hidden hotspots and to eliminate the negative effects of the incident.
