A truck loaded with candies was engulfed in flames on DN 5

A truck loaded with candies was almost completely destroyed in a fire that broke out on the night from Saturday to Sunday on DN 5, in the area of the locality Daia. The incident occurred in the direction towards the municipality of Giurgiu, and fortunately, no casualties were reported. The Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Giurgiu urgently mobilized firefighters from the Giurgiu Detachment, who intervened with two fire trucks. Upon arrival of the crews, the truck was fully engulfed in flames, and an explosion occurred at the fuel tank level. The tractor unit and the trailer were consumed by flames, and approximately 80% of the cargo was destroyed. The firefighters managed to protect only 20% of the transported goods. To clear the road and resume traffic, heavy machinery was deployed to remove the debris. ISU specialists determined that a technical malfunction was the likely cause of the fire.
