Devastating fire at a social housing complex in Săcălaz, Timiș

On the night from Friday to Saturday, a fire broke out at a social housing complex in Săcălaz, Timiș County, affecting the roof of the building over an area of approximately 400 square meters.

At the scene, 4 fire engines, a rescue vehicle, a 30,000-liter water tanker, 2 SMURD ambulances, and 22 firefighters were dispatched. During the intervention, 17 people self-evacuated from the building.

A man was transported to the hospital with burns to his arms and legs, while a second person, who entered an apartment, was found dead, having injuries incompatible with life due to the ceiling collapse.

The fire has been contained, and firefighters continue to work to extinguish it and to remove the negative effects.
