Dan Ostahie, the founder and CEO of Altex Romania, stated that Romania is heading towards an economic crisis, although there are no figures yet to confirm this. At an event organized by EY Romania, he emphasized that, depending on the speed of implementing macroeconomic measures, the economy could emerge from this crisis sooner or later. Ostahie compared the current situation to the crisis of 2009-2010, stating that institutions are better prepared now.
He highlighted the need to reduce inflation and administrative costs to restart the economy, mentioning that energy prices are crucial for economic growth. He also advocated for adjusting utility costs to a standard below the European average, emphasizing that Romania cannot leverage its labor force potential with energy costs higher than in Germany. Regarding justice, Ostahie criticized the dysfunction of state institutions, stating that they should be a model for society.
