The reorganization of the Romanian Customs aims to streamline customs control and digitize processes. Reducing management positions from 68 to 39 will generate annual savings of over 6.2 million lei. Affected individuals will be redistributed to the more than 300 vacant positions, considering the staff shortage in customs offices.
The President of the Romanian Customs Authority, Alexandru Bogdan Bălan, emphasized that the reorganization does not involve staff reductions, but rather a rebalancing of resources to improve the services offered to economic agents and citizens. The measures include merging customs directorates, strengthening control structures, and implementing digital solutions for faster customs clearance. The vehicles used by central management will be redistributed to territorial offices to support daily operations. The activity of customs offices will continue normally during the reorganization.
