The Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) denounced "the escalation of public attacks directed against the courts", following the accusations made by the National Liberal Party (PNL) regarding the decisions of the Bucharest Tribunal and the Ilfov Tribunal in the disputes related to the PNL Congress.

CSM emphasizes that the independence of the judiciary is a "foundation of the democratic constitutional order" and that judicial decisions should be challenged only through legal means, not through public pressure. CSM judges consider that the attacks from PNL are "unprecedented" and affect citizens' trust in justice.

CSM reaffirms that disputes must be resolved in courts, not in the public space.

PNL announced on Wednesday that it will contest the Tribunal's decision and accuses that the case was assigned to a judge with ties to Alina Gorghiu, requesting her recusal. As a result, the Bucharest Tribunal rejected on Thursday the accusations from PNL and denounced "pressures" on the judges.
