Cristian Preda, former dean of the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Bucharest, protested directly on Digi24 by tearing up his doctoral diploma obtained in France. This gesture was a reaction against the intention of the Bolojan government to reduce the bonus for public employees with a doctoral title, which Preda considers a humiliation for those who worked to obtain this title.
He emphasized that the government's attitude reflects a negative perception of education and those who dedicate themselves to advanced studies. Preda also criticized the tolerance towards plagiarists among officials, mentioning that the issue is not the bonus of 890 lei gross, but the way the state treats individuals with higher education. Currently, the bonus for a doctorate is capped at 950 lei gross, and the government proposes a significant reduction of it.
