The Buzău Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal investigation following the death of doctor Lavinia Ștefania Szabo.

The Prosecutor's Office next to the Buzău Court has initiated a criminal investigation for manslaughter, following the death of Dr. Lavinia Ștefania Szabo, medical director of the Buzău County Emergency Hospital. The doctor was found dead on the night of October 27 to 28, 2025, in the hospital's guard room. Authorities conducted investigations at the scene and collected evidence to determine the circumstances of the death. Witnesses and medical staff are to be interviewed, and a forensic examination will determine the exact cause of death. Prosecutors emphasized that the measures taken comply with the Code of Criminal Procedure and do not affect the principle of presumption of innocence.
