The DIICOT prosecutors and the police officers of the Organized Crime Fighting Brigade (BCCO) Pitești have dismantled a criminal group specialized in card cloning, following investigations conducted in collaboration with Bulgarian authorities. The action took place based on a European Investigation Order, which led to the execution of five searches in Bulgaria. The group, active since April 2025, consisted of four individuals, including two Bulgarian citizens, who created and used devices to read data from fuel supply cards.
The suspects installed these devices at fuel stations in the counties of Argeș, Giurgiu, and Prahova, collecting information to clone the cards and carry out fraudulent financial operations. The two main suspects were apprehended following the action carried out in Bulgaria, and the investigation continues to identify all individuals involved and assess the extent of the illegal activities.
