Diana Buzoianu, the Minister of the Environment, stated that two criminal cases have been opened following illegal tree cuttings in Băile Felix, where a centuries-old oak was felled. A company cut down more wood than was permitted, and Romsilva employees marked large trees, undervaluing their sizes to increase the amount of timber. Sixteen unmarked and illegally cut trees were discovered, and the contract with the responsible company has been suspended.

Buzoianu emphasized that not all cut trees were illegal, but there were also marked trees without necessity. The illegally cut centuries-old oak did not appear in the forest management plan, which facilitated its cutting. The contractor's contract will be reviewed to decide whether it will be resumed with the same company or another, for the cleaning of the forest from dead trees.
