The prosecutors from Galați have opened a criminal case after the explosion of the Russian drone in the city center.

The prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office next to the Galați Court of Appeal have opened a criminal case following the explosion of a military drone, of Russian origin, in the center of Galați municipality, on the night of May 28-29, 2026.

The investigated offenses include operating an aircraft in a prohibited area, attempted murder, and destruction, according to the official statement.

The drone exploded upon impact, at the moment it entered a residential building, injuring two people and destroying an apartment located on the 10th floor.

The incident occurred around 1:50 AM, and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the explosion. The prosecutor's office emphasizes the seriousness of the situation and the impact on the residents of the area.
