Two unauthorized biocidal products were used to sanitize the air-conditioning unit of the Floreasca Hospital's Burn Center, where an outbreak of Candida auris was identified. The Health Inspectorate found a state of inadequate cleanliness and lack of proper sanitation procedures. Following the checks, the head of the center and the head of the microbiology laboratory were dismissed. Candida auris infections have also been confirmed in hospitalized patients and staff testing is ongoing.
