The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced a control by the Control Body and the State Sanitary Inspection at the Psychiatric Hospital in Târgu Mureș, following reports regarding the inhumane conditions in which patients are kept. In parallel, spaces are being sought for their relocation to protect their health. The Mureș police have opened a criminal case for negligence in service, after organizations for the rights of persons with disabilities reported serious irregularities.

An unannounced visit revealed extreme filth, patients in degrading conditions, and material shortages. The hospital stated that its activities are conducted according to standards, but it is committed to improving accommodation and care conditions.
