Police officers in Constanța seized 24 non-lethal weapons and approximately 16,500 metal projectiles from the home of a man who was not registered as an authorized holder of weapons and ammunition. The checks were carried out on October 1, after he allegedly posted an online sales advertisement for a non-lethal weapon requiring authorization.
Police officers from the Environmental Crime Investigation Service went to the man's home in the municipality of Constanța, where they discovered 24 weapons: five rifles and 19 air-compressed pistols. In the same space, 46 containers containing approximately 16,500 metal projectiles were found.
Checks carried out in the databases showed that the man was not an authorized holder. All the weapons and projectiles were seized and will undergo forensic and ballistic examinations.
The police opened a criminal case for failure to comply with the regulations governing weapons and ammunition. Specialists from the Weapons, Explosives and Hazardous Substances Directorate within the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police also took part in the operation.
