The general mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, has been placed under judicial control for bribery, according to sources from Digi24 and G4Media. He is not prohibited from exercising his function because the act would have been committed in his capacity as mayor of Sector 6. He is required to present himself to the police to give a statement. Ciucu stated on Thursday upon leaving the DNA headquarters that he has nothing to hide and that he will cooperate with the judicial authorities, emphasizing that he is innocent. "I have nothing to hide, I am confident that the truth will come to light (...) I want to complete my mandate as if this thing does not exist. I will cooperate with the judicial authorities and I have nothing to hide," said the mayor of the Capital and first vice-president of PNL upon leaving the DNA, after more than two hours of hearings.
Sources cited by several publications, including Mediafax and Cotidianul.ro, claim that the first vice-president of PNL is accused of having received a bribe to issue a permit during the period when he was mayor of Sector 6.
