Ciprian Ciucu, the general mayor of the Capital and first vice-president of PNL, has been placed under judicial control for 60 days by anti-corruption prosecutors, being accused of taking bribes during the period of November-December 2025, when he was the mayor of Sector 6. The accusations concern two cases, one of which refers to a bribe of 100,000 euros offered to officials from the National Office for Gambling, in which two businessmen were caught in the act.
The second case involves three businessmen who allegedly offered Ciucu advertising services in the electoral campaign for the Capital City Hall, in exchange for obtaining the necessary approvals for a real estate project. Ciucu has contested the accusations, declaring himself innocent and stating that he does not intend to resign.
