Ciprian Ciucu, the general mayor of the Capital, expressed on Tuesday his support for the mayor of Timișoara, Dominic Fritz, in the context of the decision of the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) regarding the Integrity Law.

Although he sympathizes with Fritz, Ciucu emphasized that he will not comment on this situation until he consults with his party colleagues, mentioning the importance of a coordinated response.

The CCR decided that the regulations regarding the sanctioning of conflicts of interest are constitutional, establishing that individuals in a state of incompatibility or conflict of interest will lose their public positions within 30 days of the law coming into force. This decision has generated discussions among politicians, and Ciucu reaffirmed that Fritz has a promising future in politics.

Which article from the new ANI Law would target Dominic Fritz:

"Individuals for whom, until the date of entry into force of this law, a definitive state of incompatibility or conflict of interest has been established and for whom the 3-year term related to the prohibition provided by law has not been fulfilled, calculated from the date of the definitive report of evaluation or the court ruling, shall cease by law their position, public dignity or mandate, 30 days from the date of entry into force of this law."

Ciprian Ciucu made the statements regarding Fritz at the Bucharest Tribunal, where he went pto contest again the judicial control imposed in the case in which he is being investigated for bribery.
