The government has announced a 10.4% increase in child allowances from January 1, 2025. Thus, children under two years of age or with disabilities will receive 794 lei, while children over three years of age will receive 323 lei.

The increase will affect the 3.6 million children and young people attending secondary and vocational schools. The necessary funds come from the budget of the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity and the payments are managed by the National Agency for Social Inspection and Payments. Also, in August this year, there were 3,478,329 recipients of state child allowances.
