CFR Călători will gradually suspend dozens of train services from September 1 and October 1, 2025, due to debts of 41 million lei to CFR Infrastructură.

The cancellation of services will affect regional routes and connections between major cities, including Bucharest, Ploiești, and Bacău. CFR Călători claims it has to collect state subsidies worth over 139 million lei from the Railway Reform Authority, but has only received 8 million lei, complicating the financial situation. The company has made partial payments, but debts persist, leading to the suspension of train services.
